Hey Ya'll!
I often get questions about the Pilates for Hypermobility Course, and if one person is asking, I’m sure others are wondering the same thing! So, I’m here to answer some of the most common ones and see if you have more! (PS: Early bird pricing ends very soon, so register below!)
Q: Do I have to have a diagnosis of hypermobility or hEDS to take this course?
A: Nope! If you suspect you have hypermobility or have joint instability, you’re welcome to join. The movements and concepts are beneficial for anyone looking to build joint stability and strength in a safe, supportive way.
Q: How is this different from PT or regular Pilates?
A: We tailor movements to your body and help you apply them to daily life—so you can move with more comfort, confidence, and stability. We break movements down far more than in a typical Pilates class, because that’s often where things get missed. Many people continue to struggle because they’ve never truly addressed the foundations- they’re layering new or challenging exercises on top of old movement habits. Without fully unwinding those patterns and re-learning proper alignment at a deep level, the body can’t create lasting change. This course gives you the time, attention, and step-by-step guidance to rebuild your foundation so you can move with more strength, control, and confidence.
Q: I prefer to take in person classes. Do you offer this course in person?
A: We love in-person classes and do offer them, but our strongest recommendation is to start with this foundational online course especially for Hypermobility, then join us in the studio if you’re local (or again on Zoom if you're not!) The course is intentionally online so you can build a strong base before stepping into classes or privates, and then everything that follows will feel more supportive and clear.
This format also makes the work accessible for those outside Portland or anyone for whom commuting can be a barrier (which is actually quite common for those of us with connective tissue issues-it can undo all the benefits from the movement practice). Despite being on Zoom, the course is highly personalized, with real-time feedback, space for questions during class and between sessions, and access to replays if you can’t attend live.
You’ll gain clarity, confidence, and plenty of “aha” moments as you learn how your body works. We’d love to see you in the studio before or after the course.
“I was nervous about it being online, but that disappeared after the first session. The feedback was clear, personalized, and incredibly supportive.” — Cassie
Q: I’m deconditioned and not very strong. Should I wait for the next round?
A: No need to wait! This course focuses on foundational movements and gentle, supportive exercises, while building strength intentionally. We meet you where you are with modifications and guidance specific to hypermobility. It’s perfect for all levels—and you can re-take it anytime.
Q: My PT says no group classes, but this seems individualized. Is that true?
A: Yes! This isn’t your typical group Pilates class. We keep the group small (around 10 people and not everyone attends live), offer individual feedback, and adapt movements for your needs. Since some people take the course using recordings only, live class sizes are often even smaller—giving you more personal attention. And if you do end up doing more replays than not, we welcome you to email us after each class to share how it went for you, ask questions, and get our feedback.
Q: What if I’m having a pain flare or bad day—should I skip class?
A: You’re welcome to attend anyway! We can adjust movements so they’re gentle and supportive, or you can use the time to observe, take notes, and ask questions. Many students find that simply learning during flare days helps them return to movement more confidently when they feel better.
Q: Can I take this if I’m pregnant or postpartum?
A: Yes! The course works beautifully during pregnancy and postpartum. We focus on rebuilding, realigning, and supporting your body, with individualized adjustments as needed. We also have specific experience with pregnancy and postpartum in hypermobile bodies.
Q: I’ll mostly watch the recordings. Can I still reach out with questions?
A: Absolutely! Even if you’re not joining live, you can email your questions or feedback between classes. We’ll respond by email or address them in the next session. Although you can get the MOST out of it by attending live, many students only use the recordings and still get amazing results—with plenty of support.
