Pilates For Hypermobility
A 4 week program to understand, work with and create awareness of your hypermobile body.
Did you know for every extra bendy part you have a tight part? I know it’s hard to believe when we just feel extra flexible, or extra tight, but If you’re always stretching the same thing with no lasting results, that’s why. In the Pilates for Hypermobility Course, we’ll teach you how to first stabilize your extra bendy parts and then mobilize the tight parts within some common exercises.
Pilates for Hypermobility is a two-month container, starting with one month of twice weekly Zoom classes where you get personalized attention and trouble shooting with movement as you learn more about your own anatomy and movement patterns. Can’t come live? The email communication doors are open throughout the entire two months for direct feedback, answers to your questions, and instruction. In the second month, it’s time to replay any missed classes, re-take them for further cementing, or apply what you learned to Foundational Pilates videos that are included with the course. This is also a great time to reach out to your Instructor for guidance and simply process/talk through your experience in the course. Then, you’re invited to continue along in your movement with hypermobility journey through The Santosha Movement Society, a membership with consistent instructor support, access to discounted private sessions & small group classes (both in studio and Zoom) and unlimited videos.
When the course ends, you’ll be moving better in your daily life, not only just during exercise. And that’s the sweet part about Pilates for Hypermobility- it translates over to so much more and has literally changed the trajectory of the lives of course participants by reducing pain and changing the relationship with their body for the better.
The PFH course is offered 3 times per year-Winter, Late Spring and Fall. You’ll get personalized attention as we teach you the necessary foundations that must be in place before we begin to strengthen! If you’re wondering why exercise hasn’t worked for you in the past, this is the missing link!
What Will You Learn?
This is an intro course for those with Hypermobility/EDS as well as Instructors and practitioners wanting to expand their knowledge of this population’s needs. Learn anatomy, efficient movement techniques, how to listen to your body, and modify exercises for strength, stability, and mobility. Focus on proper range of motion and alignment for common exercises, with personalized cues and corrections geared toward hypermobility. We teach you the things other fitness classes skip, the stuff that comes before the warm-up, and the things that will make or break your experience with exercise. It’s all about the foundations and layers of body awareness that need more attention in a hypermobile body. At the end, enjoy bonus access to a diverse video library to implement what you learned!
This course improves posture, reduces pain, and builds body awareness that can be applied beyond exercise and into daily life. Interactive format with live Q&A and recordings available.
The course is online intentionally. It’s a foundational introduction that gives you a strong starting point for future Pilates classes or private sessions, while also making the work accessible to those outside of Portland. For many with hEDS, commuting can be challenging, so this format allows you to learn from home while still receiving thoughtful guidance. We'd love to see you in the studio before or after completing the course for classes and sessions!
