Pilates Progressions with Katie

A Word from Katie:

It has been such a wonderful few months exploring our Pilates Progressions class on Thursdays at 5:45pm online. The class has truly transformed as we’ve found new ways to flow through the fundamentals and challenge ourselves.

We have discovered an effective blend of dynamic movement to support our resets, leaning into our individual understandings of our own bodies. We’ve also leveled up from using limited props to incorporating multiple tools to support our movements in every session.

Here is what we have been focusing on lately:

  • Breath and Core: Using 3D breath to "talk" to our bodies and establishing the core as a stable base.

  • Transitions and Spinal Health: Moving mindfully through transitions and focusing on extension, lateral bending, and rotation to decompress the spine and shake off the tension of daily life.

  • Mobility: Prioritizing thoracic mobility and its huge impact on scapular placement and shoulder health.

  • Dynamic Release: Drawing from my dance background to use movement to wake up the body, reset joints, and get our bones centered.

Each week, we revisit pelvic, hip, and shoulder health to reset those essential building blocks before we dive into more advanced work. I’m so excited to keep this journey going!
